I have been noticing this trend on social media where witchcraft and occult practices are now the cool thing to do. These activities used to be so taboo or hidden but now, more and more people are becoming open with these practices and their identification with them. It is now en vogue to call oneself a witch or openly profess belonging to a coven. Our favorite celebrities and social media influencers are practicing and promoting this as harmless spirituality. 

I saw a comment from one self proclaimed witch that said #witchcraft is widely misunderstood because it is not evil. It does not involve demons or spirits. It is simply the power one possesses within themselves to make things happen.

This is a lie – a blatant lie. 

Hear me and hear me clearly. There can be no access to the spirit world without the help of a spirit. To access anything in the spiritual realm, you are either being helped by the Holy Spirit and his angels or a demonic spirit. There really is no in between and there really are no neutral spirits.

Understand that when you open up yourself to occult practices such as tarot card reading, horoscopes, enneagrams, smudging or saging, sound bowls, ASMR (yes I said it) somatic release, ouija boards, crystals and every other such practice that’s cool right now, you are opening up yourself and your children to malevolent spirits whose sole purpose is to steal from you, kill and destroy you. The fear, anxiety, depression, confusion and lack of true peace in your life is the fruit of the works you are engaging in. And charging your crystals under the moon will never be able to cleanse you from this. 

There is no such thing as good magic. There is no true peace outside of the peace the Holy Spirit brings. There is no demonic power or negative energy that sage or crystals or whatever else can expel. Don’t let them deceive you. Truth does not change. God does not change. The laws of the spiritual realm do not change no matter what your favorite influencer, celebrity or new age occult teacher says.

“Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.”
